Explore Your Imagination
Week 1. Introduction to our imagination
What is your favorite fairytale and who’s your favorite fairy tale character? Come and join us as we explore our imaginations and enjoy a summer of Fantasy! During the first week of camp we will explore different Fairy Tales and Fables. We will paint, and go in search of our favorite fairy tale characters.
Week 2. Fairy Tale land
This week we will be exploring various fairy tales, including: Rapunzel, Puss ‘N’ Boots, The Princess and the Pea, Hanzel and Gretel, and more. We’ll make a quilt, a candy house, and many more sweet crafts and treats.
Week 3. Superheroes
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superheroes! Superheroes here we come. Who is your favorite Superhero? Is it Superman, Spiderman, The Incredibles or someone else? We will be exploring different Superheroes and learning to make good choices and help others as we have the time of our lives.
Week 4. Knights and Princesses
This week we will take a step back to the time of Knights and Princesses. We will find ourselves on a quest for Merlin and some young Knight or Princess will pull the Excalibur from the stone! We’ll have a Jester contest and perform juggling acts for the King and Queen. We’ll also have a Masquerade Ball complete with masks and eating with Knights of the Round Table.
Week 5. Alice in Wonderland
“I’m Late, I’m Late, for a very important date!!” says the Mad Hatter. This week we be making Mad Hatter hats and having our own Mad Hatter Tea Party. We will be playing croquet and having relay races to see who finds the rabbit hole first.
Week 6. Adventure land
This week we’ll go Geo Caching and go on an adventure hunt! We’ll play water games, obstacle courses, and see what adventures we can find at the YMCA.
Week 7. It’s a Bugs Life
Do you have Cooties? We do!!!!!!!!!! Join us as we search for Cooties, play games, make crafts and look for creepy, crawly, and gross critters around the YMCA.
Week 8. Barnyard Paloosa
We will be exploring barnyard animals through crafts and going on a scavenger hunt to find the chickens, cows, and other barnyard animals that might be wandering around the YMCA! I wonder how many we’ll find, what about you?
Week 9. Myths, Legends and Fables
Did someone say Loch Ness Monster? What about your favorite Teddy Bear? During a week of exploring famous myths, legends and fables we will discover how they affect our lives and the lives of others from different counties and cultures. We will explore the myths surrounding the Sun, some Haitian Folktales, discover the legend of our Teddy Bears, and see if we can find the Loch Ness Monster! Do you think he exists?
Week 10. Disney
During a week of Disney adventures, we will be doing Karaoke, making Flubber, doing crafts and trying to find Nemo. We will take part in water play, and go on a search to bring Nemo home. Where could that brave little fish have gone in the YMCA?
Week 11. Disney Cont. (Pirates of the Caribbean)
Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrg! Me Matey. We’re going to build our own Pirate Ships, go on a treasure hunt, and make a number of Pirate crafts. Don’t forget your eye patch!
Week 12. Create Your Own Fantasy
What kind of character do you see in yourself? We will finish up our summer of exploration by making our own fantasy tales and turning them into movies. We will be the stars or our own fables and create our own costumes and scenery. What character will you be?
